Plymouth State University, also known as simply PSU, is a regional comprehensive university in Plymouth, which is a town in Grafton County, in the US state of New Hampshire, with a population of more than 6500 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2009 census.
PSU was established in 1871 and was founded as Plymouth Normal School, with the original mission to educate teachers. It still retains a distinguished teaching program/major to this day, but the university has significantly diversified its academic profile, with many new majors and fields of study, overall, offering a total of nineteen academic departments, with nearly forty different options within the major programs.
PSU's athletic teams are known as the Panthers and they compete in NCAA Division III Little East Conference (LEC) for most of its intercollegiate sports. Their distinctive colors are green and white.
